Inspirations from Haiti: Gueldy Rene

Even as COVID-19 is having a devastating impact on Haiti, we draw inspiration from Gueldy Rene and others like him. Gueldy works with our students and WOZO Choir.⠀

Gueldy has been a friend for many years. He was born and raised in Haiti’s largest and most dangerous slum, Cité Soleil. As a teenager, Gueldy recalls others around him receiving guns from people in power who wanted to buy the allegiance of armed gangs. Gueldy didn’t go down this path and as grace would have it, he got a guitar. He’s become a seasoned songwriter and musician, using his talent to speak truth to power and to inspire youth and everyone to dream and to work for a better world.⠀

We are fortunate to have Gueldy as part of the Haiti Partners’ community, using his talent to spread hope and love.
