2nd year in a row: 100% Children’s Academy 9th graders pass nat’l exam! 🎉

The results just came in. 💯/💯 9th-graders at The Children’s Academy passed the Ministry of Education’s National exam. They are overjoyed with gratitude!

I (Merline) took some time to speak to them via telephone yesterday to congratulate them. When I asked Valentina how she felt about the result, she said:

What makes me so happy is that we all passed—no one left behind. We went to the exams with a lot of emotions. Good and bad. We feel so blessed that our school can jump through all the hoops, work with us, and send us with confidence. We are eternally grateful to our parents, teachers and Haiti Partners and know how lucky we are. We also grieved and were saddened for all the other students of other communities ravaged by gang violence. While we are celebrating, we are keeping kids like us who were not able to take the exam in our hearts.

This is a truly extraordinary outcome for any class of students in Haiti. The national test system in Haiti is very high stakes, notoriously difficult, with typical passing rates as low as 2/3rds – 3/4ths for students in any given class. For 100% of students to pass is truly amazing!

Once again, congratulations to everyone at the school on this extraordinary outcome, and a big THANK YOU to all the Haiti Partners’ supporters who made this wonderful achievement possible. It couldn’t have happened without you. 🙏
