Haiti Partners, WorldBlu, and why we practice Workplace Democracy

Freedom at work and workplace democracy have been animating concepts at Haiti Partners since the beginning. In 2011, we had the pleasure of hosting Traci Fenton, founder of WorldBlu, in Haiti. John attended WorldBlu’s first conference in Washington, D.C. more than 20 years ago and has stayed involved with the organization and network ever since. Haiti Partners has made their list of Most Freedom-Centered Organizations for 17 years straight!

Our involvement with the WorldBlu network and use of their organizational / leadership evaluation tool has played a key role in shaping our approach. It mirrors the Haitian konbit, which is the way that groups organized themselves to get work done after winning their freedom from the colonists. It’s all about partnership, mutual respect, and a commitment to continual improvement.

In this short video, HP Co-Directors, Merline & John Engle, talk about the importance of WorldBlu and workplace democracy to our work. Thank you for watching!
