Honoring Bob & Nedra Green: A Lasting Legacy of Hope and Growth

Newly tucked beneath the tropical canopy of The Children’s Academy Legacy Garden sits a beautiful white bench bearing the names “Bob & Nedra Green.” It’s more than a seat—it’s a symbol of enduring generosity, a quiet tribute to a legacy gift that will support students, families, and the broader community here in Haiti.

At Haiti Partners, we are deeply grateful to the Green family for their generous contribution in memory of their grandfather, Bob, and in honor of their living grandmother, Nedra.

From The Green family:

Our grandpa grew up in a very rural community during the Depression. As a kid, he rode a horse to a one-room schoolhouse. He was able to get a two-year and eventually a four-year degree, and spent several years as a teacher, and our grandma spent her whole life as a teacher. All of which is to say that education was extremely important to them; it opened a lot of doors for our grandparents, and that’s a value that was passed on to our father and then to us.

Bob and Nedra’s commitment to education and community empowerment is manifested by every child who learns under the beautiful trees all around The Children’s Academy, every parent who joins a Konbit for change, and every seed planted in our school gardens. This bench honors Bob and Nedra’s belief in the power of education and their commitment to making life-changing education available to those who otherwise would not have access to it.

The funds from their legacy gift are being used with care—supporting not only the school’s daily operations but also the creative learning programs, entrepreneurship activities, and eco-initiatives that make The Children’s Academy a beacon of hope in these challenging times.

To the Green family: THANK YOU! This sturdy steel bench, handmade by skilled Haitian craftsman, will serve as a place of reflection and rest for generations to come—students, teachers, parents, and visitors alike. Your grandparents’ legacy lives on in fostering learning and growth among students, their families, and the staff.

With gratitude and continued blessings,

The Haiti Partners & Children’s Academy Community
