We’re pleased to share that teachers and administrators from our four Partner Schools in the Léogâne area recently came together for a one-day retreat.
The gathering was organized and led by our Haitian colleagues using the Open Space Technology approach, which we began using in Haiti in 1996. In this format, participants determine the topics they feel are most critical and self-organize into small groups to address them. The sense of agency this creates often leads to ongoing engagement and action.

The conversations reflected both challenge and possibility. Participants explored how Partner Schools can better support one another, from sharing teacher training to collaborating on activities like tree planting and celebrating Haitian Flag Day. They also discussed engaging a psychologist to support students and staff navigating ongoing stress and trauma caused by political unrest and insecurity.
What stood out most was the spirit of collaboration and mutual responsibility.
We’re profoundly grateful for your support and encouragement, without which initiatives like this wouldn’t be possible.
