US Churches Helping Haitian Children

In Partner Schools, Quality Schools Program

February 20, 2011

What a great day yesterday. How inspiring to again witness the commitment of US churches to the education of Haitian children. Today ten men from Calvary Church hiked with me (John Engle) to visit the land where Haiti Partners’ Children’s Academy will be built. It’s a joy to be in partnership with Calvary and others on this exciting project.

We returned to Bellevue Guest House where Haiti Youth Choir (40 members) did an inspiring performance and then Pastor Glen Litwiller arrived with ten from Edgewater Christian Fellowship.

We’re thrilled to have Glen and team with us for a week. Their focus for the week will be on working with choir children and their mothers, working with children of our partner school, and learning more about Haiti Partners work overall.

My wife Merline and her team, including her sisters Yolette and Neslie, served to visitors and members of Haiti Partners Youth Choir a delicious Haitian meal. It was wonderful sharing a meal together, all 70 of us! We’re grateful for the flexibility of visitors and choir kids and for their willingness to help out. What a fun day.

It’s a blessing and source of profound encouragement for Haiti Partners to be in partnership with churches, schools, companies and individuals who are committed to the education of Haitian children. We couldn’t be more grateful to Calvary for partnering with us in the building of Children’s Academy and we’re excited about forging a new relationship with Edgewater Christian Fellowship.
