Local children with disabilities to receive care in the US

In Children's Academy, Quality Schools Program, Volunteering

Dear Friend to Haiti,

Recently I (John Engle) made some home visits in the Children’s Academy community with American volunteers Danielle Gilbert and Deanna Acosta. Samuel, Leissa and Chara are children in three separate homes–constructed with sticks, tin and tarps–with varying degrees of disabilities. Chara and Samuel rarely leave their homes and both have mental and physical disabilities. Leissa, who was born with only half a leg, is a student at the Children’s Academy.

Thanks to Danielle and Deanna’s efforts we have a US partner organization that’s going to fly Chara, Leissa and Samuel and one of their parents to the US and cover their needed surgeries at no cost. We’re so pleased to be able to facilitate people like Danielle and Deanna to engage in a way that will completely transform the lives of these children and their parents. This represents a miracle: for the one thing that’s worse than extreme poverty is to have a disability in extreme poverty.

Thank you for your part in helping Haitians change Haiti through education. You are transforming lives TODAY. You’re also helping to prepare and inspire future Haitian changemakers with your donations. We can’t thank you enough!

Gratefully,

John Engle
Director and Co-Founder
