On January 12, at 4:53 p.m. ET, 16 years ago, Haiti experienced one of the most devastating natural disasters in modern history. Today, we pause to remember and honor the hundreds of thousands of people who lost their lives, as well as the countless families and loved ones forever changed by that tragic day.
January 12, 2010, touched every person in Haiti. Everyone lost someone. Remembering and honoring those lives is essential, not only to support healing from the profound national trauma, but also to inspire hope and encourage Haitians to become change agents and global citizens working toward a brighter future.
The response from the global community was deeply moving and continues to inspire us. The Children’s Academy stands as a testament to what is possible when local commitment is met with international solidarity and generosity. We are profoundly grateful for this support and for all that it has enabled us to accomplish together.
Thank you for holding Haiti close in your heart during this time of remembrance.
In solidarity,
Merline & John for Haiti Partners
