A Beacon of Hope: The Children’s Academy Continues to Shine Amidst Haiti’s Turmoil

In Children's Academy, community, General, Quality Schools Program

We hope this message finds you well and safe. Amid the ongoing challenges facing our beloved Haiti, we are reaching out to share a beacon of light that continues to shine brightly in our home community: The Children’s Academy.

In times of chaos and uncertainty, The Children’s Academy has remained a steadfast source of safety, education, and hope for the children and families we serve. Thanks to your unwavering support, the school has been able to continue its vital mission, providing not only quality education, but also a sanctuary where students can learn, grow, and work together toward a brighter future.

The Children’s Academy has implemented comprehensive safety measures to protect our students and staff, ensuring that learning can proceed without interruption. Our dedicated teachers who are pillars of strength and resilience, have gone above and beyond to adapt to these challenging times, embracing innovative teaching methods and providing emotional support to our students.

In addition to academic instruction, The Children’s Academy has continued its community outreach, offering essential programs, resources, and support to families impacted by the current crisis. These efforts have been instrumental in fostering a sense of unity and hope within our community, reminding us all that we are not alone in this struggle.

An example of this community outreach is seen in the image above, a “Community Change Group.” Four of these groups with 30-35 people each meet weekly at The Children’s Academy. Community Change Groups are organized and conducted at the school, but they are tailored by and held for students’ parents. Their purpose is to promote women’s and children’s rights, reduce domestic abuse and other violence within the family, and to provide resources for at-risk women and children.

As we navigate these turbulent times, the little glimpses of hope and joy witnessed at The Children’s Academy serve as a powerful reminder of what we can achieve together. From the laughter of children playing in the schoolyard to the shared meals and conversations between families, these moments of connection and care are what make The Children’s Academy so much more than just a school.

We are immensely grateful for your continued partnership and support which enable us to keep this beacon of hope burning bright for our students and their families. Your generosity is making a tangible difference in their lives, offering a glimmer of hope amid so much chaos.

We remain committed to our mission and to the students and families we serve. Together, we are not only providing education but also nurturing a generation of leaders who will one day lead the change towards a more peaceful and prosperous Haiti.

Thank you once again for your kindness, support, and belief in our work. We look forward to keeping you updated on our progress and the positive impacts your support is helping to create.

With deepest gratitude,

Merline & John Engle
Co-Directors
