Today is World Environment Day and we’re excited to share that in addition to the recent addition of Soap Making, The Children’s Academy is launching a Tree Nursery as part of our entrepreneurship program. With local nurseries no longer accessible due to gang activity, this project will make essential trees like almonds, breadfruit, moringa, and mango available again. It’s part of our ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and hands-on learning. Haiti needs more trees — and we believe that, with our students, parents and community members’ help, it can be green again.
The work is only getting started and there are many details to work out still, but we wanted to share this as another example of how, under very difficult circumstances, The Children’s Academy continues to adapt and develop activities that serve and develop the local school community. Having easy access, especially to fruit trees, will not only beautify the area, it will also provide another food source that students and parents can rely on.

We’ll make sure to provide more updates as the nursery project moves forward. In the meantime, if you find this work compelling and would like to support it, we invite you to click below to donate.
On behalf of the students, families, and communities we serve in Haiti, thank you for your ongoing support.
