In a way, this quote from Lilla Watson is what we’re trying to get at in our mission statement: “Helping Haitians change Haiti through education.”

It’s not about telling people what is right for them; nor fixing their problems for them (nor thinking that we could). It’s about walking along side of them respectfully, as partners and friends, collaboratively facing challenges in the hopes of, together, making the world a better place for all of us.

We are grateful to Ms. Watson for so eloquently capturing this absolutely key guiding principle.
