Learning Traditions of Kanaval

This past Sunday our neighbor Muson (pictured below in disguise) came to share with Haiti Partners Youth Choir some of the traditions of Kanaval. Muson grew up in Haiti but spent much of her adulthood in US. In addition to jokes, dance, and playful gestures in her traditional Kanaval custom, Muson brought ingredients and taught the children to make a delicious Kanaval dessert made with bananas, vanilla, and fried into a cookie.

It was a fun afternoon for all involved and also a great opportunity for 40 children in our neighborhood to engage with and learn from older members in the community.
