Teacher Summit 2016: Working together for change

On July 13-15 in Darbonne we held our 5th annual Teacher Summit training. This is the largest training we hold all year for our schools network teachers and the materials and techniques covered serve as the basis for what we will work on in the coming school year in all our schools. Forty six teachers from our schools network participated.

The training is organized with and led by our partners from Calvary Church. This year the trainers group included 13 extraordinary teachers, administrators, and students of education. Based on discussions earlier in the year, the training focused on lesson planning and included a host of fun and effective student-centered teaching techniques.

One thing that really stuck out in this years training was the comfort level between the Calvary trainers and the participating teachers. After five years, we’ve established a strong foundation of trust and a productive, joyful working dynamic. From day one, trainers and teachers were reconnecting as professionals and friends over their shared passion: teaching. Though each year we’ve gotten better at this, this year it seemed to really come together.

Haiti Partners is very grateful to our friends at Calvary church who help make this annual event possible and to the trainers who make extraordinary efforts each year to help our teachers improve and to continue this wonderful partnership. Thank you and we look forward to working together again next year!
