In Haiti, preschool and kindergarten can be the first places children experience stability, security, and the freedom to simply be kids. Here, they begin to develop confidence and curiosity and are empowered to dream beyond their circumstances and imagine a brighter future.

Meet one of these dreamers, Jessica (we’ve changed her name for privacy reasons). Pictured here in her cap and gown, Jessica just graduated from kindergarten at The Children’s Academy. The diploma held so carefully, tied with a bright red ribbon, is more than a piece of paper to her. It is proof that a safe, joyful, and structured place to learn can change a child’s life trajectory.

Because of you, Jessica and hundreds of others like her spent the year in classrooms where they were recognized, cared for, and encouraged to wonder. They sang, played, asked questions, and began to believe that school is a place where good things can happen for them, their families, and their community.
