Earlier this month The Children’s Academy held a series of Summer Camp activities. This year’s activities had both educational and practical goals – goals that gave students and parents an opportunity not only to learn employable skills, but also to contribute to the school’s growth and improvement.

1. Furniture Making: As it grows, each year the school needs more furniture and to repair the older furniture. To accomplish this, we had a local furniture maker come to the school and show some of our older students how to build and finish classroom tables.
2. Construction: We’re currently building two new classrooms to accommodate the increase in students as we grow the high school section. To help with this, we’ve enlisted students and parents to assist in the construction. What’s extra cool about this is that the people who are teaching them are parents who in previous years received their own construction training at the school!
