Once again, Haiti Partners wants to send a big THANK YOU to Dick Flesher and our friends at Schools Count Corp. for their generous support of our most remote partner school, Bèl Platon Community School. Despite all the chaos currently in Haiti, they recognized that water insecurity was a vital issue at the school and so, in collaboration with HP and the school principal, they stepped up to fund repairing their existing water reservoir as well as building an addition onto it. In total, the school now has the capacity to capture approximately 11,500 gallons of rain water to support students and staff, as well as the broader school community (local families, neighbors, etc.)!

Over the years, Schools Count has consistently come through in great times of need. After the 2010 earthquake, they raised major funds to help us rebuild another of our partner schools, IMN Community School. In 2016 they were there for Bèl Platon after hurricane Matthew, helping them to deal with massive flooding and reconstruction. More recently, in 2022 they supported the construction of two new classrooms to accommodate the school’s growth. They’ve also been supporting a meal program which is so essential in a community afflicted by food insecurity.
On behalf of all the students, staff and parents at Bèl Platon Community School, many thanks again, Dick, and the wonderful community of caring you have created through Schools Count. We couldn’t be more grateful for your partnership!
