IMN Community School: Thriving after 15 years of partnership!

This short video is from our Partner School, Institution Mixte Nao (IMN Community School). We partnered with IMN soon after the 2010 earthquake, first with a campaign to help rebuild the school (which was totally destroyed by the quake), and then as a regular Partner School so we could collaborate regularly and pool our resources so they could continue to grow and improve.

After 15 years, IMN is not only still going, they’re thriving! This year they’re introducing their first class of students to Philo – the equivalent of senior year in the US system. In other words, they’ve far outgrown the primary school they once were before the earthquake and now can boast a full PreK through High School. In total, they serve over 470 students each school day. As a testament to the quality of the education they’re providing, this year 100% of their 9th graders passed the Nat’l Exam, an accomplishment they can boast about for several years running!

IMN is also extraordinary in their commitment to honoring Haitian culture and the arts. Each May they hold an elaborate celebration for Haitian Flag Day, and each student at the school learns a musical instrument as well as studies Haitian poetry and literature.

Haiti Partners is honored to stand alongside such passionate and talented Haitian educators and leaders—championing student pride and honoring the essential, human role of the arts in learning. Chapo ba zanmi nou nan IMN!
