The Home Gardens Project – “Konbit Jaden Lakay“ in Haitian Creole – was started in July 2020 as a long-term response to the economic upheaval and resulting increased food insecurity that COVID-19 is causing in Haiti. It addresses this by providing the families of all students and staff at the Children’s Academy with the materials and technical support they need to create and sustain their own permaculture home gardens. As a result, to date over 500 families (over 3000 people) are being empowered to sustainably grow their own healthy food far into the future.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”12px”][mk_image src=”https://haitipartners.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/home-garden-pic_mar-2022.jpeg” image_size=”large” align=”center”][vc_empty_space height=”28px”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1656186092752{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]The Home Gardens/Konbit Jaden Lakay Project also builds community and local investment because the families benefitting are not only receiving their own garden, they’re working together to plant other families’ gardens and build their water catchment systems as well. In this way, neighbors become invested in the welfare of each others’ gardens. Click here to learn more.
Haiti Partners is very grateful to be recognized in this way for this important work that is bringing such great benefits to students, families and other community members in the Children’s Academy school community.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][mk_image src=”https://haitipartners.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/haiti-partners-childrens-academy-2022.jpg” image_size=”large” align=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
