We are very proud to share about the graduation of this year’s Community Change Group participants after completing their intensive six-month training! The graduation was a beautiful celebration, complete with the awarding of certificates.
What are Community Change Groups?
At the heart of our “school-based community development model,” these groups bring together parents, local adults, and, starting this year, some older students. Community Change Groups help participants reevaluate habits and values to build kinder, fairer, and more loving relationships with themselves and their families.
Education is Conversation (ESK)
Through ESK, participants confront, first in conversation and then through role-playing, critical issues that afflict their communities: child abuse, sexual harassment, restavek (child servitude), and others. In doing so they not only become more informed about the reality of the issues themselves, but they practice actually intervening. It’s an exciting and powerful method and has been hugely popular at the school since the beginning.
