COVID-19 Prevention

There are now over 200 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Haiti. With limited testing however, there are certainly many more cases than this. The coming weeks will be a critical time. To meet this challenge, we’ve focused on prevention, distributing hundreds of COVID-19 Prevention Kits and creating and disseminating digital and printed materials. Children’s Academy Update

It has been an extraordinarily challenging school year in Haiti. Political unrest disrupted the fall calendar only to give way to COVID-19 this spring. We’re pleased to share that despite this the Children’s Academy has remained resilient, finding ways to stay open to educate students, support parents, enrich the environment, build community, and grow the school through construction. See more Children’s Academy news here.

Partner Schools Update

As with the Children’s Academy, it has been a challenging year for the Partner Schools. All six faced closures in the fall but reopened in the spring at least in some limited fashion until March when COVID-19 shut down all schools in Haiti. During this time we were pleased to see the schools continue to benefit from prior training, construction and meal programs. Learn more about what we’ve been doing at the Partner Schools here.

[VIDEO] Student Learning continues during COVID-19 thanks to dedicated Children’s Academy teachers

Teachers continue to support their students by supplying school work for them to do at home and making home visits to educate them and their families about how to prevent the transmission of COVID-19. View the video here.

Merline, John and Alex begin writing book about the creation of the Children’s Academy

The book will document the path that led to the development of the Children’s Academy, will be written in close collaboration with the community, and will serve to further engage supporters in the cause.
