Celebrating International Women’s Day at The Children’s Academy

On International Women’s Day, The Children’s Academy celebrated girls shaping Haiti’s future. Students participated in, “Education is Conversation,” through which they learn to lead, listen, and collaborate. Nadia, an 8th grader, led a discussion on the role of women in society. Together, they explored leadership, respect, and women’s voices in building strong communities. Learn more.

Partner Schools retreat addresses collaboration, student trauma

Teachers and admin from our four Léogâne Partner Schools recently held a retreat. Using Open Space Technology—a method we’ve used in Haiti since 1996—participants determined their own priorities and self-organized to tackle critical issues. This format fosters a powerful sense of agency and led to deep conversations that balanced current challenges with future possibilities. Learn more.

Children's Academy hosts local schools for Agricultural, Book, and Cultural Fair

To celebrate Haiti’s Agriculture & Labor Day on May 1st, The Children’s Academy hosted an agriculture, book, and cultural fair with three neighboring schools. Featuring local produce harvests, the distribution of tree saplings, activities that promote reading, and traditional handicrafts, the event highlighted the school’s holistic, school based community-development model aimed at nurturing Haiti’s future leaders. Stronger Together annual Haiti Scholarship Benefit to be held at Saint Joseph's Art Society in San Francisco

We are excited to share that this year the Stronger Together Haiti Scholarship Benefit will be held at Saint Joseph’s Art Society in San Francisco. St Joseph’s, a beautiful historic romanesque revitalized church is a grand, coveted space, which will help us reinvigorate and grow this annual event, now going into its 11th year. The event will be held Tuesday, November 10th. More info to come.

HP celebrates 7 years of accreditation from BBB Wise Giving Alliance

Earning accreditation from BBB Wise Giving Alliance/Give.org involves undergoing a rigorous evaluation process that includes meeting 20 accountability standards in the areas of governance, measuring effectiveness, finances and fundraising & info.
