Children’s Academy summer marked by celebrations & good work despite insecurity

July was full of celebrations at the Children’s Academy: 34 preschoolers graduated to elementary & 30 sixth graders graduated to middle school, and 195 adults completed the six month Community Change group training on children’s rights and ending violence against women and girls. Immediately after summer camp activities began.

Partner Schools push forward, make progress during tough year

The number of students educated in our network of six Partner Schools rose to over 1150 last year. While there were inevitable closures due to political unrest, for the most part the Partner Schools stayed open, holding graduations in July (e.g. IMN, Henri Christophe). Currently, the schools are preparing to open again on October 3rd.

While we’re happy so much got done, we’re even happier with how it got done. Parents & staff, students & others, all shared responsibility and worked together for the mutual benefit of everyone.

New updates to the “Stories of Change” webpage

Thanks to the great work of the “Our Stories Team” – a small group of young staff and others at The Children’s Academy who seek out opportunities to tell the stories of their community – we’ve added a number of compelling new pieces on the Stories of Change webpage. Check out the new stories here.
